The Workshop
Built Around the Patience a Mechanical Watch Deserves
Tickwright was established in Bangkok with a single purpose: to give owners of mechanical timepieces access to careful, honest bench work and clear communication at every step.

How Tickwright Came to Be
Tickwright opened its doors on Sukhumvit Road after its founder spent over a decade working on mechanical movements in both Thailand and Europe. The workshop was set up as a deliberate alternative to the large multi-brand service centres that process watches quickly and at volume. Here, each watch is looked at individually, assessed carefully, and returned to its owner in better condition than when it arrived.
The name reflects what the work actually involves: writing — or rather, recording — what a watch has been through. Every movement tells a story of wear, of temperature changes and humidity, of years of use. Understanding that story is what allows a bench technician to do the job properly.
Bangkok is a city that values fine craftsmanship and has a growing community of watch enthusiasts, collectors and those who have inherited pieces from their families. Tickwright exists to serve all of them: from the person bringing in a daily wearer that has started running slow, to the collector who wants consistent documentation of their entire collection's service history.
Our Mission
What We Are Here to Do
Our purpose is straightforward: to look after mechanical timepieces with the care and clarity their owners deserve. That means being honest about what we find when a watch is opened, explaining what work is needed and what is optional, and carrying out only what the owner has approved.
We do not chase volume. The workshop handles a limited number of watches at any one time because that is the only way to give each piece the attention it warrants. Turnaround estimates are realistic and kept to. If something unexpected is found during disassembly, we stop and consult the owner before proceeding.
"The movement of a well-maintained watch is one of the most satisfying things in the world to examine. Our job is to keep them that way."

How We Work
Our Standards at the Bench
Written Condition Assessment
Every watch that arrives is assessed before any work begins. The owner receives a written note describing what was found, what is recommended, and at what cost.
Ultrasonic Cleaning Process
All movement parts are cleaned ultrasonically before reassembly. This removes residue from old lubricants and particulate matter that accumulates over years of wear.
Timing Verification
Every serviced mechanical movement is checked on a timing machine across multiple positions before it is cased and returned. Results are included in the service documentation.
Owner Approval Required
No additional work is carried out beyond the agreed scope without contacting the owner first. If a movement disassembly reveals further wear, we pause and consult before proceeding.
Water-Resistance Testing
For watches designed to be water-resistant, a pressure test is offered as part of service completion to verify that seals and gaskets are performing correctly after reassembly.
Discreet Handling
Each watch in our care is stored securely and handled only by the assigned technician. Client information and service records are kept with strict discretion.
Our Approach
Watchmaking as a Considered Craft
Mechanical watches are among the most compact and intricate objects that people own. A well-made movement contains dozens of individual components, each contributing to the measured oscillation of a balance wheel that keeps the hands moving accurately across a dial. When a watch begins losing time, running fast, or stops altogether, the cause is usually found in the lubricants that have dried out, in wear on small bearing surfaces, or in contamination that has entered the case over years of daily use.
Addressing these issues properly requires patience and the right approach for each watch. A movement from a dress watch built in the 1960s needs different handling from a contemporary automatic sports model. Vintage calibres often require parts that cannot be sourced from a distributor and must be obtained through specialist channels or machined by hand. The assessment phase at Tickwright exists precisely to identify what each watch actually needs, rather than applying a standard procedure regardless of what is found.
Cosmetic work is equally nuanced. The decision to polish a case or to leave a patina intact is one that affects the character and, in some cases, the value of a vintage watch. We present options clearly and carry out only what the owner approves. For collectors managing several pieces, the documentation aspect of ongoing care is often as important as the servicing itself: knowing when each watch was last seen, what was done, and what its current condition is.
Tickwright's position on Sukhumvit Road places it within reach of Bangkok's collector community, expatriates and residents who want access to careful watchmaking work without sending pieces overseas. Our working hours and straightforward enquiry process are designed to make the first step as easy as possible for owners who are unsure what their watch needs.
