What Watch Owners Have Shared

I brought in my father's Seiko 5 that hadn't been opened in over twenty years. The written condition note they gave me before any work began was something I hadn't received anywhere else. They found that the mainspring was showing fatigue and asked me before replacing it. That kind of transparency is exactly what I wanted.

The restoration on my vintage Omega took about three weeks, slightly longer than the initial estimate, but they messaged me to explain why when a part needed to be sourced. The case came back looking better than I expected without losing the character of the watch. The dial was left as it was, which was what I asked for.

I enrolled three watches in the Collector Care Programme about eight months ago. The digital records are genuinely useful — each entry has photographs and notes I can reference. It has changed how I think about keeping the collection. Worth it for someone who takes the documentation side seriously.

I had been sending watches back to Europe for servicing because I didn't know where to go in Bangkok. Tickwright ended up being more thorough than the service centre I had been using. The timing machine results in the paperwork were a detail I genuinely appreciated — I could see the figures before and after the service.

Reasonable turnaround for the service. My automatic was back in about ten days, keeping much better time than it had been. The condition note mentioned the crown gasket was showing some wear; they replaced it and included that in the paperwork. I knew exactly what had been done, which I appreciated.

Brought in a Longines I inherited from my grandfather. They assessed it carefully and sent me an itemised plan for the restoration before touching it. I asked them to keep the dial as original as possible and they respected that completely. The bracelet refurbishment in particular was excellent — it looks entirely different now.

Three Client Stories in Detail

Case Study 01 · Movement Servicing

A 1970s Automatic Brought Back into Daily Use

Challenge

A Bangkok collector inherited a 1970s Swiss automatic from his uncle. The watch had not been opened or worn in over fifteen years. It would run for only a few hours before stopping, and the date function was stiff and unreliable.

Service

Full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, replacement of worn keyless works components sourced from a specialist supplier, new lubricants throughout, and a timing machine check across six positions. A written condition note documented everything found and replaced.

Outcome

The watch returned to daily wear within twelve days. Timing fell within +4 seconds per day on average — a marked improvement from an effectively non-running state. The owner now wears it regularly and has enrolled it in the Collector Care Programme.

"I had no idea it could be brought back to this standard. The condition note was clear about everything that was found, and I felt fully informed throughout."

— Somchai T., Bangkok

Case Study 02 · Restoration & Refinishing

A Vintage Dress Watch Restored for Daily Wear

Challenge

A British expat brought in a mid-century dress watch that had belonged to his grandfather. The acrylic crystal was deeply scratched, the case showed years of surface wear, and the leather strap had deteriorated completely.

Service

An itemised plan was agreed before work began. Crystal replacement with period-appropriate acrylic, light case buffing to reduce surface scratches while preserving case chamfers, new leather strap in a period-appropriate colour. The dial was assessed but left untouched at the owner's instruction.

Outcome

The watch was returned in 18 days at the agreed cost. The owner wears it at least twice a week. The patina on the dial was preserved exactly as requested, giving the piece a character that a full restoration would have removed.

"The itemised plan before work began was exactly what I needed. Nothing was done that I hadn't agreed to."

— James P., Bangkok
